General Overview

Competition - Feb. 19^th thru Feb. 21^nd

Our event will host three gyms of simultaneous competition for three days beginning 8AM Friday and ending on Sunday evening. Schedule of Events will be posted by the end of December, 2009.

Format

All Sessions of the Buckeye Classic are run in a Modified Capitol Cup Format. Gymnasts will warm-up an event, then compete that event before moving to next event. The gymnasts will warm-up on the same equipment they will be competing on, with the exception of floor where they will warm-up on a tumbling strip. A 30-second touch will be given on floor.

2010 Buckeye Classic Equipment

We use AAI equipment, supplied by Midwest Gym Supply.

North and South Gyms Equipment List: AAI Tac-10 Vault tables, AAI Elite Bars, AAI Elite Beam, AAI Floor, Tac-10 Boards, and a 1 ¾" vault runway.

Center Gym Equipment List: All the above plus a 20 cm matting (elite matting) with a AAI Stratum floor

Entry forms and complete invitation can be downloaded here. The meet will fill on a first come first serve basis. All additional entries will be placed on a waiting list and added as space permits.

NOTE: No gymnast or team will be entered until all fees are paid in full and complete gymnast information is supplied. (Name, USAG Number and Birth Date)

Awards

Awards will be presented for individual events and all around placements for each level after every session. Achievement ribbons will also be given for competition at Levels 3, 4 and 5. Team trophies will be presented to the top three teams after every session with prize money being awarded to the top team. Prize money will also be awarded to the top three Super Teams.  Clubs that send teams for at least 5 of the 7 levels are eligible for the Super Team competition. The Super Team score is determined by compiling team scores for 5 of the 7 levels, not including Level 3 and Prep Optional.

Opening Ceremony/March-In Saturday (2/20/2010) approximately 5:00 PM

All gymnasts are invited to participate in our Opening Ceremony and March-In on Saturday night in the Center Gym.  Don't miss our famous "balloon drop"!

A few years ago we introduced the "Buckeye Classic Spirit Award" during our Opening Ceremonies. It turned out to be such a big hit that we are doing it again this year. The award originated because every year more and more teams would come to the Opening Ceremonies "accessorized" in some way. So we are giving out an award to the team that shows the most "spirit". This spirit can be demonstrated with an accessory that the girls carry or wear on them. Please keep in mind a few restrictions: accessories that shed feathers or glitter are probably not the best idea. We need to keep the clean-up effort after the ceremony to a minimum so that the evening session can start on time. The judging will be based on originality and team participation. Have Fun with it and we look forward to seeing you all at the Opening Ceremonies on Saturday, February 20, 2010 at 5PM.

Vendors

There will be a variety of vendors on-hand throughout the weekend selling "gymnastics" related merchandise. We will have GK Leotards as well as "Buckeye Classic" merchandise available.
